The ASTI Winter Ball was a grand festival of dancing, joy, and wonder, where students had the opportunity to bond with their classmates and eat great food. It replaced the Spooky Spirit Dance of years past. After students expressed last year that they wanted a second cordial event beyond Prom, Leadership designed the Winter Ball to give students an opportunity to dress up, take photos, and make Instagram posts. Activities at the Winter Ball included a photobooth, a dance competition, giant cup pong, board games, fortune telling, and a poker table. The dance also featured the ASTI Santa, who was played by senior An Ning Li. “I had a real jolly time,” said An Ning about his experience being Santa. “As I jumped around, my stomach was flopping and jiggling with glee. My giant ‘Ho Ho Ho’s could be heard across the room.” Not all students attended, and many who didn’t regretted their absence. “I really wish I was there,” said junior Aiden Chan. “It sounded like a great time.” Overall, it seems everybody agrees that the Winter Ball was a huge success, and we hope it will become a tradition for many years to come.
